Appointment set for Monday at SF German consulate

Dear Family and all Levenson-Wahls,

We did it - we have an appointment on Monday to apply for German citizenship / naturalization !!

Dan and I went through the amazing treasures of our family history and have gathered a remarkable dossier of documents, that I plan to copy tomorrow. I have to think we will have the best supported application they have ever received from a Jewish family member applying under this law (see link below on the law).  We have:

    Helga's:
    1. birth certificate
    2. marriage certificate AND ketuba
    3. naturalization paper
    4. US passports
    5. death certificate

    Elly's:
    1. birth certificate
    2. Polish passport and visas used to flee Germany
    3. proof of passage on ocean liner Lisbon to NYC
    4. US passports
    5. death certificate

    Hermann's:
    1. birth certificate
    2. death certificate

    Hermann's mother, Feigla:
    1. death certificate

    Dan's:
    1. birth certificate
    2. passport

    My:
    1. birth certificate
    2. passport
    3. marriage certificate

We'll complete the application (see link). We'll find out how long, and if you, Helga's grandchildren, will use this same application. We will find out which are the key documents you will need and then scan them, so you can do this if and when you want. As you have heard, this will mean we will have dual citizenship (US & German), but the opportunity to live/ work any where in European Union.

Dan & I will document our adventure with photos, and let you all know on Monday the outcome.  Meanwhile, we can't wait to hear if Walter's Muslim-Jewish conference in Paris this summer will coincide with Dan's Jewish Geneology conference in Paris in July, and Bill's & my already planned visit to France (July/Aug).
