Views of the Rzeszow rynek (market square)

Rzeszów market square then and now

In these images of the Rzeszów rynek through the years, you can picture the Ringel residence toward the end of the row of buildings on the north side of the square, backing onto the Jewish cemetery.

These were humble two-story houses in the earliest images but they have become grand emporia in the modern photos. I think they may always had a storefront below with living quarters upstairs. We think Moses Ringel was a butcher, so possibly that was his own shop facing the town square.

Landmarks around the square are the Rathaus, or city hall, in the southwest, a central water well and a monument to Polish patriot Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The Rzeszów Catholic Church rises beyond the Rathaus.
