When we last left Captain George Henry Haskell, he had mustered out of the Massachusetts Militia after the defense of Portland in the War of 1812. He returned to his third wife, Eliza Knapp, in Middlebury, Vermont, right around the time she gave birth to fraternal twins in October 1814.
